Requirements include, but are not limited to:
- University education in international studies, public policy, political science or law or related fields
- Diplomatic experience or experience working in political affairs with international organizations or governments
- Experience in preparing analytical reports
- Excellent communication and drafting skills
- Knowledge of regional political history and developments
- Diplomatic and negotiating skills
- Some knowledge of the OSCE principles and commitments
- Extensive experience in political analysis and reporting
- Experience in liaising with governmental and non-governmental organizations
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and demonstrated track record of coordinating and motivating teams
- Professional fluency in English and Russian languages and the ability to draft documents clearly and concisely
- Cultural sensitivity and sound judgement
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to work as a member of a team, with people of different cultural and religious backgrounds, different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity
Ability to operate windows applications, including word processing and emails
Knowledge of the Romanian language (desirable)
Experience in working in the region and knowledge of the historical and current political situation in the Mission area (desirable)
Strong mediation and negotiation skills (desirable)
Experience working in an international organization, diplomacy or with public affairs (desirable)

Tasks and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Mission Leadership, the incumbent will serve as the Mission's Senior Political Officer, taking lead responsibility for the following tasks in support of the Mission's mandate:
Is the primary drafter and editor of the Mission's reporting;
Maintains a broad array of contacts and provides political advice on developments in Moldova, on both the left and the right bank;
Coordinates the work of the Mission's Political Office;
Participates in and facilitates negotiations between the sides in all different formats of the Transdniestrian settlement process;
Acts as liaison for the Mission with political and public officials and non-governmental representatives throughout Moldova on all mandate issues;
Supervises the work of three staff;
Performs other duties as required.
