Kenya: Information Management Assistant Consultant (IOM - Regional Data Hub, Nairobi)

I. POSITION INFORMATION Vacancy Number: IOMRONBO/CFA/010/2018; Classification: National Consultancy; Reporting directly to: Regional Data Hub Information Management Officer (RDH IMO)

II. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE Under the overall supervision of the RDH Coordinator, the direct supervision of the RDH IMO and in close coordination with Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) regional team, the incumbent will be responsible to support GIS and information management initiatives aiming to streamline data management and analyse mixed migration movements, trends, and its characteristics across the region.

III. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Support the RDH IMO to coordinate the design, mapping, assessment and monitoring of regional mixed migration data sources and make these available for internal and external reports and publications;
  2. Assist in designing and creating infographic and graphic elements developed in Adobe Illustrator;
  3. Collect, process and evaluate data, performing statistical and geospatial analysis;
  4. Assist and prepares maps and geospatial products at all scales to support decision making and information dissemination processes;
  5. Assist in creation, design and maintenance of web report tools and web applications designed in Power BI and ArcGIS;
  6. Assist to maintain geodatabases, including migration and integration of GIS data;
  7. Perform GIS data editing when required;
  8. Under the guidance of the RDH IMO works closely with the DTM regional analysis team to ensure synergies, cross analyses, and data integration;
  9. Manage training and skills development support to the IM RDH portfolio;
  10. Work in line with IOM data protection and GIS standards;
  11. Undertake duty travel when necessary;
  12. Any other duties that might be assigned.

Technical:-  -Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.  -Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.  -Strong practical experience in using Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator), ArcGIS platform, and Power BI;

V. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Education:- • University Degree in Geographic Information System, Computer Science, or a related field; Experience:- • Six years of work experience; • Experience with data processing and mapping in ArcGIS platform; • Experience in managing Geodatabases; • Experience with Web Mapping Applications; • Experience with Web Reporting tools; • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (particularly with Adobe Illustrator) is essential; • Knowledge of SQL is an asset; • Previous IOM or UN system experience is an asset.

VI. LANGUAGES Fluency in English (both oral and written)
