Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leadingUN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental andnon-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator in Gaziantep and direct supervision of the Programme Support Officer, the successful candidate will support the work of the IOM Syria emergency response team.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
Conduct regular desk review of available needs assessments and reports by humanitarian clusters and other relevant humanitarian partners to understand and be kept abreast of developments as they relate to the programme.
Support the production of reports and impact materials reports, donor reports, reports, presentations, and other materials.
Conduct analysis of quantitative data and findings of collected data and determine relevant information for inclusion in reports.
Contribute to regular and timely donor reporting, and provide regular, complete and concise tracking reports of the programme implementation to the Programme Coordinator.
Conceptualize relevant infographics, graphs, maps and tables to be included in reports and updates.
Track and answer to information requests from IOM (IOM HQ and other missions) and external partners
Perform such other duties as may be required.
Tangible and measurable outputs of the work assignment
• Support the development of at least 5 reports, including three monthly mobility and needs monitoring reports, baseline reports, and other flash updates.
Realistic delivery dates and details as to how the work must be delivered
• The reports will be done with various computer programs including, word, excel (for the data analysis), InDesign and Illustrator for the visualization. Monthly reports have to be done in the first/second week of each month.
Performance indicators for evaluation of results
The Reporting Consultant will be measured according to his/her work and ability to produce the products on a timely manner. Performance indicators would be such as:
• Produce at least 5 products
• Analyse collected data to be included in the products
• Timely submission of the products
• Conduct research of other partners’ assessments and needs and incorporate new ideas for future assessments and products
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
• Master’s degree in Political or Social Science, International Relations, Humanitarian affairs, Project Management or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or
• University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
• Excellent communication, writing and organizational skills; ability to prepare clear and concise reports;
• Strong analytical, planning and people management skills;
• Familiar similar initiatives such as displacement tracking and needs assessment programmes;
• Good understanding of conflict situations;
• Excellent level of computer literacy, knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly word and excel.
Languages
Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
