The Regional Migration Health Specialist that the Intern supports provides technical support to the country missions in MENA to implement their migration health projects through mainstreaming migration health into national strategies and policies; developing, reviewing and endorsing proposals and donor reports; developing regional initiatives such as UN Joint Programme; compiling, analysing and updating epidemiological data, and providing technical guidance on project management, coordination and implementation.
Working under the overall direction of the Regional Director and the direct supervision of the Regional Migration Health Specialist at the Regional Office for MENA, the Intern will provide technical and administrative support to the Regional Migration Health Specialist. The Intern will have the following duties and responsibilities:
a) Update the existing sets of epidemiological data compiled by the Regional Migration Health Specialist and assist him in data analysis to support the country missions for their strategic policy decision making, project development ideas, and resource mobilization;
b) Compile project data collected from the country missions (e.g. the number of beneficiaries, curative services, health promotion) and assist in data analysis to support the country missions for project monitoring; c) Assist in tracking project implementation progress to support the country missions to avoid delays;
d) Assist the regional M&E Officer in health project monitoring and evaluation including design and updating regional monitoring database, preparation and review of project background documentations, evaluation tools development, transcribing and analyzing data coordinating and scheduling evaluation field work in coordination, with project teams and reviewing evaluation reports;
e) Support developing regional initiatives such as UN Joint Programme by conducting a mini-survey, compiling inputs from the country missions for the proposal and budget development, refining proposal, and developing donor briefs;
f) Support in reviewing project reports and proposal/concept notes based on the check-list developed by the Regional Migration Health Specialist
g) Assist with the preparation and background research for presentations, meetings, and requests for inputs from headquarters and other colleagues;
h) Assist in developing and updating information sheets on the overview of the migration health programme in the region;
i) Help analyze and share related thematic information (including issues, trends and data) as well as good practices with country missions, relevant colleagues and external parties;
j) Assist in administrative tasks including scheduling, travel arrangements and coordination with partners;
k) Undertake duty travel, as necessary;
l) Perform other duties as required.
