Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration
and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM
is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by
providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Context:
IOM Haiti is seeking to strengthen its external communication and reporting mechanisms,
notably its social and visual media outputs and to create strong online, print and other
communication materials. These tools will help IOM Haiti communicate externally on its
achievements and also aid in bringing important social issues to light. Target audiences will
include beneficiaries, donors, the Government of Haiti and other partners/stakeholders. The
Program Support Junior Officer will also be responsible for regularly updating the IOM Haiti
mission website, for liaising with Programme Managers to produce regular activity reports,
update fact sheets, and support M&E activities and updating IOM Haiti social media based on
new developments. The Junior Officer will report directly to the IOM’s program support unit
manager.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Support the Program Support Unit manager in developing new project proposals.
- Assist with providing and coordinating inputs for information requests from Headquarters, the
Regional Office, other IOM missions and external partners, such as donors, partner agencies,
implementing partners, etc. - Serve as a focal point for internal and external communication flows. Maintain
Communication with Headquarters, the Regional as well as outside partners for information
sharing and dissemination. - Based on the information gathered from Program Managers within the IOM Haiti mission,
regularly update IOM Haiti social media tools, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr; - Produce/edit short video documentaries and write press notes with accompanying
photographs of IOM Haiti activities. - Maintain and carry-out periodic updates to IOM Haiti project factsheets.
Undertake any other task as requested, based on needs.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
• University degree preferably in International Law, Communications, Journalism, Political or
Social Sciences, International Cooperation/Relations, Humanitarian Affairs, Development
studies or related field.
Experience
Public Information
• Experience in information management/public information, visibility and social media,
project/programme development; reporting and Monitoring and Evaluation;
• Strong photography, videography and graphic design skills;
• Knowledge of basic editing softwares;
• Experience in producing materials targeting outside audiences and policy documents;
• Writes clearly and effectively, adapting wording and style to the intended audience
• Knowledge of social media;
• Experience in information management or public information, project/programme
development; reporting and/or Monitoring and Evaluation;
• Experience in producing materials targeting outside audiences and policy documents;
• Familiarity with standard office applications and capacity in MS Publisher, Photoshop, website
design and similar application desired.
International Relations
• 2 years working Experience in NGO, UN, IO or Diplomatic missions;
• Thorough knowledge of the functions of intergovernmental organizations and familiarity with
IOM and the UN system;
• Experience in liaising with the national and international entities, specifically donors;
• Familiarity with the issues of migration programmes;
• Work experience in the region is an advantage.
Languages
Fluency in English and French is required.

The appointment is subject to funding confirmation.
